The Palouse is tucked away in Southeast Washington and North Central Idaho. The rolling hills of wheat, barley, lentil, garbanzo beans, and dry pea fields are home to two universities. The University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, was established in 1889 and in 1890 Washington State University was established in Pullman. These "Land Grant" world class Universities, natural abundance and the friendly people provide “big city” cultural and recreational events while experiencing small town charm with a mild climate and clean air.

In 1881, a postal permit was granted to “Pullman” and a handful of businesses and professionals encouraged Washington State College to locate here. The first homes were built on PIONEER HILL in the Southeast portion of the town and WSU is located on COLLEGE HILL in the Northeast. MILITARY HILL and SUNNYSIDE HILL in the Northwest and Southwest, respectively, square up Pullman’s geography.
